Version 1.4.3

Projects that start the way you paint.

This release adds Painting Method Templates, a much broader catalogue, stronger matching rules, and a long list of improvements to scanning, collections, wish lists and project planning.

The headline feature

Painting Method Templates

New projects can now begin with sections that match a real miniature-painting workflow instead of a model type.

  • Included: Classic, Contrast / Speedpaint and Custom.
  • With Plus: Slap Chop, Zenithal, Airbrush, Grimdark and Display / Competition.
  • Classic is the default, while Hobby Rack remembers the last method you used when it is still available.
  • Existing projects keep their original sections and are never converted or gated.
  • Projects made from a Plus template remain fully available if a subscription ends, including duplication.
  • Templates create ready-made project sections; they do not include painting lessons or tutorials.

Paint catalogue

  • Now covers more than 3,100 paints across over 90 ranges and 11 catalogue brands.
  • Added Pro Acryl, Scale75 and Darkstar Miniatures ranges.
  • Expanded AK Interactive catalogue coverage and reference data.
  • Added catalogue focus for Tabletop & Fantasy Miniatures or Historical & Scale Models.
  • Separated Paints, Technical products and Sprays throughout collection and wish-list screens.
  • Improved brand, range, code, type and finish searching.
  • Correctly places Air Caste Thinner in Technical products.

Matching & scanning

  • Prioritises trusted published conversion sources before colour-value fallback matching.
  • Uses strict verified-colour thresholds and clearer confidence descriptions.
  • Improves paint-finish compatibility and prevents misleading cross-type suggestions.
  • Scanner results are split into Best Match and Other Possibilities.
  • Nothing is added automatically; every result is reviewed first.
  • Improved OCR stability, duplicate-action protection and prompts for hidden catalogue ranges.

My Paints & Wish List

  • Added brand filtering and clearer empty states.
  • Added swipe and edit actions for removing paints.
  • Collection totals now sit directly beneath the final paint section.
  • Wish lists are grouped consistently and can suggest useful starter paints.
  • Improved list cards, paint-pot alignment and accessibility contrast.

Project planning

  • Project paints now present the selected alternative more clearly with a subtle “Using” label.
  • Alternative controls appear only when your collection has an alternative to offer.
  • Missing paints use a direct wish-list action and remain visibly marked if alternatives are added later.
  • The project shopping list is hidden when there is nothing to buy.
  • Empty and populated sections now use consistent card widths and spacing.

Plus, settings & support

  • Plus now clearly lists Sync & Backup, Unlimited Projects, Painting Method Templates and Project Paint Alternatives.
  • Improved subscription loading, purchase feedback, offer-code placement and accessibility behaviour.
  • Added optional one-time ways to support Hobby Rack without subscribing.
  • Added catalogue statistics, clearer catalogue controls and an in-app What’s New screen.

Reliability

  • Fixed scanner and keyboard-related crashes and layout warnings.
  • Added regression coverage for catalogue integrity, search, matching, scanner results, project policy and store mutations.
  • Added the Xcode Cloud product manifest used by the release build.
  • Locked the matching-policy ordering with tests and reference documentation.
